JustDane’s Reentry Simulations give community members a hands-on experience of the challenges people face when returning to the community after incarceration. Volunteers are essential to making these simulations meaningful, helping, guiding participants through real-life scenarios, and creating a supportive environment that allows participants to reflect and learn.
Simulations are scheduled throughout the year with various vendors and are not consistent. Our Volunteer Manager sends out an email through our volunteer database when a schedule simulation needs volunteers.
Requirements:
- Must be dependable
- Comfortable interacting with the public and working in a hands-on, dynamic setting
- Commitment to supporting participants in a safe, inclusive, and empathetic environment
Volunteer Role:
- Volunteers fill roles such as a parole agent, job center worker, landlord, or mental health professional, interacting with participants and helping them navigate challenges in a realistic, supportive environment.
