The following is a test of your Just Bakery Broadcasting System:
Just kidding. This is real, everyone! Class 70 completed their ServSafe and Management classes over weeks four and five. Let’s give everyone a huge round of applause for sticking with it, even when the dough got tough to roll.
That’s right. They all have the basics of being a boss, without the cost. This free program is truly changing lives.
In the kitchen, the class worked on more tasty treats! Week four lessons concentrated on laminated doughs, rich with layers upon layers of butter, sheeted out for:
One student even brought in hot links, which, when sauteed onions and peppers, with a little mustard, were rolled to our layered buttery dough. This was a classroom experiment, so, sadly, these are not sold to the public. (Fingers crossed? Someday? [Please?])
For week five, they studied the effects of melting sugar into various syrups and crystals. Their final baking experiment used a method where piping hot water and sugar cooked a mixture of egg whites and almond flour into a sweet, nutty, chewy cookie dusted with powdered sugar. Again, not something we sell, but a valuable lesson for our students!
With that, they are closer to the end of the end of the session. Stay hungry, Madison! (and readers from all over the world)
