2020 Coming to a Close

“I didn’t want to talk about the Pandemic because it seems to be the “Hot Topic”, but it’s really hard not to. We are nearing the end of 2020 and to many, this has been an extremely trying and stressful time. I think this Pandemic has tested our characters to the core and has brought out the worst in some, and yet, as a nation, we have really come together in many ways and it has caused many people to step up and make a difference.

While we had riots and protests, we also had government programs add additional food share, unemployment relief, and food pantries working super hard to get food safely to millions of families. Many other good changes were put in place, such as zoom meetings and the ability to work from home.

We are all ready for this year to end and are very hopeful for life to get back to the way it was before. But things will likely never be the same again. So we continue to roll with the punches and adapt to “what is”.  Acceptance is the key word, I think. We don’t have to like certain things in life, but we do have to accept them if we want to live in peace.
As far as JB 45 is concerned, this week was pretty laid back. We did some converting of recipes and went over a Peanut Butter cookie recipe. We watched a Youtube video on making a Pound Cake and then we learned the difference between Baking Soda and Baking Powder.
We will be off for the next two weeks. Some of us will be with family for the holidays while others will not. The holidays will be different this year. I hope that all will find acceptance and peace and make the most of today; as it is.
Starting in January, the JB 45 crew will dive into the kitchen again and start to really get their hands in the dough. I’m super excited about this!
Continue to check in on us after the Holiday Season and we will take you into the kitchen with us as we get down to the nitty gritty of Baking.”
Thank you Amy for those thoughtful considerations as we approach the end of the year. It has been a crazy time, but all we can do is adapt and move forward. Just Bakery has been able to do that, and continue our instruction, because of the support of our community. We appreciate you all so much for allowing us to continue doing this great work. Happy Holidays from all of us here, and a happy, healthy, New Year.
